Create + Cultivate LA 2014

Posted on: Friday, August 29, 2014

This was our 7th Create + Cultivate (and the biggest.) 100 ladies + gentleman from as far as Thailand gathered in a room in Downtown Los Angeles to feel inspired.  The goal of C+C has always been to enlighten, entertain and inspire-- to cultivate relationships without feeling like you are networking, to meet creatives in an environment that lets you be yourself and to hear some of the  best and the business tell their story and give invaluable advice. It is something I am incredibly proud of creating.  Each year after emails pour in about the game changing experience which make all the blood, sweat and tears that go into feel so worth while.

Next year, we are going BIG and I mean BIG (stay tuned) and I am so excited to bring this conference to even more amazing men + women.  Below are some photos I feel captured the experience.

The best team a girl could ask for!

The besties came out to support!

SixTwenty

Basics are essential, retail prices are not-- at least that is what Sarika and Angeli, the founders of Six Twenty, say drove them to create their awesome basic line Six Twenty.  Their mission-- to refine the process, production and pricing behind the timeless pieces that are the very canvas of our wardrobes. From cotton to silk to crew neck they have all the basics you always need at amazing prices. The red silk tank (pictured on me above) is a dream with beautiful soft silk and amazing cuts it's a perfect piece for summer.

Check out all of their selections here.

To say I love the ladies at Blood is the New Black would be an understatement. They support artist, have amazing tees ( seriously they are the best fitting tees) and are nice as hell. What more can you ask for? I did a little interview with them for their bliggity blog where I spout of about being creative and trying to keep sane. Check it out here.

I am in love with the Garrett Leight brand. Beyond the amazing sunglasses lies a well rooted lifestyle concept that taps into the Abbot Kinney-er in all of us. Their monthly mixtapes, their beautifully photographed and art directed zine "The Spectacle" and now their immaculately designed store on La brea will leave all of us wanting more.

Pics from the opening event last night. Highly suggest your start pinching pennies to snag a pretty pair of GL's.

Coachella Essentials: The Wears

Posted on: Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Almost Coachella time! I am so so so excited but now it's time to get my self in order, there is a lot of preparation that goes into coachella... namely lots and lots of shopping. The number one thing you need to get for Coachella is a killer swimsuit, followed by lots of shorts and basic tanks and of course some statement sunnies. For practical purposes definitely invest in a messenger bag of some sort as well as a back up battery for your phone (you WILL thank me later!). Up next will be your Coachella Essential Beauty + Hair needs!

Mara Carrizo Scalise, an amazing leather goods/jewelry designer, met up with me last week to talk shop about her amazing goods and moving to LA from NY (a topic I am oh so familiar with). Mara's attention to detail and quality of products is absolutely insane. The leathers are so soft to touch and her jewelry designs are so gorgeous yet perfectly wearable for every day. The more products I saw the more I felt like I had stumbled upon a gold mine that no one even knows about! Until now of course!

You're Welcome.

PS- If you are in LA swing by the Cooper Design Space Suite #822 March 12-15th as Mara will be showing her goods!

Out and about.

Chelsea and I hit the town for some super fun events the other night. Namely, AIRWALK (yes airwalks) 25th anniversary fete at COLONY in Hollywood! We snapped some super fun photos and got down on some red vines (best sponsor ever) and PBR. Post Red vines coma we headed over to the Spare Room for some extreme Jenga playing and fancy cocktails. We also hit the ultra secret photo booth and took a few snaps. Shirt courtesy of Zara, loving the gold little corners on the top, it's all about the details.

Shareen Vintage from Launderette on Vimeo.

Anyone who lives in LA and loves fashion knows about Shareen's vintage. Launderette did a great interview with her, she really has incite into the female psyche and the love of clothes and not just the love of the 'idea' of fashion.

110 Years in Fashion

Posted on: Sunday, March 21, 2010

I was honored to be chosen as one of the bloggers to participate in the California Market Center's project "110 Years of Fashion". Each blogger (including Jazzi McG, Fashion is Poison, So Super Sam, and lots more) were paired with a designer to pick out an outfit and design a set using whatever we wanted for the decade. I got the 70s (yay!) I was paired with the amazingly sweet and talented team at Thursday Island. An adorable brand with great hippie/boho inspired pieces. Check out the exhibit through Tuesday at the California Market Center Lobby!

Week-End By Alex Prager

Posted on: Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Peeped Alex Prager's new show @ M + B in Los Angeles and what can I say? I love her style. It's very 70s, kitschy, slightly eery yet chic and stylish. Taking a page from Cindy Sherman the photos feel like film stills from a different era. Beautiful, check out the rest here.
