I am heading to NYC for PROJECT men's show next week! I am definitely going to try and make some time to swing by the Whitney to see Yayoi Kusama's "Fireflies on the Water"--constructed environment of lights, mirrors, and water the pictures look magical.

Sometimes you need a little visual inspiration which is just what these prints gave me when I saw them! Abstract, modern, amazing colors... can we get all of them made into dresses asap?

I attended the opening of Fashion Photog Terry Richardson's first solo exhibit at OH WOW Gallery Friday. The plaid clad photog was milling about WHENNNNNNN a unicorn appeared. That unicorn was TOM FORD and he is every bit as beautiful as you would imagine in person. I rarely get crazy over celebs but holy shitttttt Tom Ford, ya'll!

MAB #1

Posted on: Thursday, January 5, 2012

New Series Alert! MAB, cause we all need a little music, art and beauty in our lives.

+ MUSIC: I cannot stop listening to Grimes, she is a little pixie angel with a voice like butter. Check out this rad video and be sure to click on the SOUNDCLOUD link below for some synthy goodness.

+ ART: Joe Web's kick ass collages are totally lovable and currently affordable so get a print for that little starfucker in your life!

+BEAUTY: Ok I was turned onto tarte's lipsurgence by a friend who suffered from the same 'my lips are dry as hell' issues that come with committing to red lipstick. This little nugget is a game changer, moisture central. The ORIBE dry shampoo is a life saver and literally smells so good you might want to double it up as perfume. And lastly, the secret sauce of the cone rode iron, perfect curls for everyone!

Mr Brainwash

Posted on: Thursday, December 29, 2011

I checked out the Mr. Brainwash Art Show 2011 yesterday and it was Ah-maz-ing, a real testament to public art and the idea that art is accessible and can be beautiful without being complex. If you don't know who Mr. Brainwash is read this wikipedia entry NOW. The Banksy crew is quiet brilliant and really making waves in the art scene that was once ruled by the uber wealthy and the uber lucky and now us minions get access to all this great work! As such Mr. Brainwash was giving away limited edition posters (the exhibit closed yesterday and was only open for 5 days)...and now I am passing one along!

Simply leave a comment below about any old thing and auto enter! The winner will be announced on the SNON Facebook page so be sure to like that shit!

keep it simple.

Each week, we create or commission art inspired by the latest global trends in contemporary art, design, and fashion. But we also guide and inspire you with expert advice on how to make the most of your living or work spaces." Now that is something I can get on board with. via Younger & Ziskin.

Is there anything more beautiful than the simplicity of crisp white paper and black text? Swedish designer, Therese Sennerholt, embraces that simplicity in her series of white and black postcards + posters.

I am a fan of all these sentiments. I am also a fan of dancing, check out this tune "After Dark" by The Court & Sinden ft. Mystery Jets. Turn off your stress, turn up this song, and have fun.

"I'm a drawer, painter, tea-drinker, self-taught San Franciscan artist. I was born and raised in a small beach town in Southern California where I first started drawing with soy sauce on napkins, but I have since upgraded to paper and paint. I now reside in San Francisco's sunny Mission District where I love playing Scrabble in the park, playing with my kitten & drinking peppermint tea"

Obsessed with this series by Jose Morraja. Entitled "Lost in Paradise" the photos have a sort of haunted feel to them in the vein of "The Ring", love it.

"I’m creating a relationship between the artwork, the art space, and the viewer by employing visual and audible devices. In recent sculptures I’ve juxtaposed found photographs and objects with various light sources to create a mise-en-scene for them to play out in. The unknown actors and actress in the images are recast into new roles, with theatrical light sources such as candlelight, fluorescents, and color gels providing dramatic tension. The sculptures become a site of convergence between past and present, fiction and reality, and drama and banality; where the subjects play out ambiguous narratives with psychological and melancholic resonances." - Marlo Pascua
