Trend Alert: Artsy Shoes

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Once upon a time jewelry was the most common way to add a little art to your outfit.
But no longer is that the case! Shoes are getting patterned, studded, spray painted and the like creating mini murals on your feet!
This seasons look is particularly ethnic and bohemian inspired with a mix of grunge elements ( tie dye + graffiti).
Granted these looks come with a price tag much like a fine piece of art.

Cropping Tops

Yes that is right, crop tops. The 90s resurgence is in full swing from ripped jeans to 90210 being on the air- get ready world it's a My So Called Life kind of world lately.

How do I feel about it? I think the new crop top looks great when paired with a high-waisted skirt showing little to no midriff. I do think that when worn with say, low ride micro jean shorts, the look goes a bit overboard.

What do you guys think?

Fashion Intimidation

Fashion should never take itself too seriously.

Though I do think both these images are the epitome of fashion intimidation, no?

I want a walk off! Where is David Bowie?

Mad Imports is a socially & environmentally responsible company that markets handmade handbags from Madagascar & Kenya that is run out of Brooklyn. How have I not heard about this?

" We work with youngsters and staff at the Akany Avoko orphanage to provide supplies, training and funding for the center’s craft workshop. We provide market readiness training workshops to artisan groups and small businesses in Madagascar and Kenya. "

The bright and bold colors of the handbags are very bohemian and perfect for summer! The designs are darling ( How cute is the heart?) and they are reasonably priced as well. Great fashion for a good cause? Count me in!

We all know them. Those adorably minimal shops with one word names, that are impeccably curated, carrying every item you are dying to have. Well here is another one, Bird.

Bird is a whimsical shop in Park Slope, Brooklyn that I popped into yesterday and trounced around in for a few hours. The shabby chic enclave is filled with hanging scarves, brightly colored skirts, and perfectly aligned jewelry. As an avid online shopper it was exciting to see and touch and feel the items I drool over on a daily basis.

The owner of Bird, Jen Mankins was previously an assistant buyer at Barney's and later the head buyer for Steven Alan. Therefore Bird is essentially the shop love child of high fashion Barney's and the quirky cool Steven Alan which is in a word- Glorious! And as luck would have it they have an equally adorable website where I can continue browsing for hours. The site features designers such as Loeffler Randall, Alexander Wang, and Vena Cava. Enjoy!

Rompers much like Harem Pants are something that you have to try on... they are an acquired fit. The Rompers this season have a more retro and funky feel to them, I think they are adorable--- of course that is until you have to pee thennnn they are a pain. Either way find the ones above here.

Dollars + Sense

Everyone is about dollars and cents lately and about making sense out of those dollars and cents! Here are two similar outfits--two different price points. Which would you prefer if the prices were hidden?
Also I just got the MAVI Lindy jeans in Bleached Boho ($108) and they are fantastic! Super high quality with the perfect amount of rips and tears! Plus they are loose enough on the bottoms that you can roll them up thrown on some killer heels and a tank and roll out! The 90s really are back!

Noticing lots of volume for summer! I am loving the loose, romantic, wispy "just threw this up" look on the right! And the girls on the left looked to rad not to post, though I am not sure how that style would look on me? Also was inspired by Drew Barrymore's look in Grey Garden with her darling curls and head scarves!
